The Templeton Honors College welcomed back its community of alumni for an event-filled Homecoming weekend.
Eastern University and the Templeton Honors College celebrated Homecoming over this past weekend. The Honors College honored its alumna of the year, Allie Greenplate, at the alumni awards ceremony on Thursday, October 8. Allie is an accomplished scientist currently working at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine as the Director of Immune Health. Allie is the first alumna of the year since the doors of Templeton Hall have opened, and it was an honor to gift her a seat in Clemens Hall with her name on it!
Then on Friday, October 9, several local Templeton alumni spoke at the weekly Honors Forum. The theme for Honors Forum this year is “flourishing” and these alumni helped our current Templeton scholars think about what it means to “flourish” in one’s professional life after graduation. It was also an opportunity for current students to connect with alumni a few years ahead of them who work in the fields that they are interested in working in. It is always a treat to welcome alumni back and to see how they have fared after being shaped by a Templeton education.
Finally, on Saturday, Dean Brian Williams led an art tour through Templeton Hall for alumni, current students, and their families. Guests who joined this tour were shown the thought and attention that went into curating each space in Templeton Hall and how Beauty is an essential part of a Templeton education. It was also a chance for these visitors to explore all of the nooks and crannies of this new building and home for Templeton scholars. Later that evening, Templeton alumni and former faculty were invited to a reunion, where scholars spanning all different cohorts shared food and drink and delightful conversation.
It was a weekend full of celebration of the past, present, and future community of the Templeton Honors College. A community very much worth celebrating!
