The Student Council is composed of five regularly elected Templeton students who serve the Templeton Honors College by managing certain vital aspects of collegiate life and contributing to the ongoing conversation about the future life of the college. Responsibilities and duties of the student council include, but are not limited to:

  • Monthly meetings with the dean of the Templeton Honors College or another faculty representative
  • Giving reports, proposing business, and giving advice at semesterly Templeton faculty meetings
  • Facilitating semesterly Town Hall Meetings with the Templeton student body to report and deliberate on various Templeton matters
  • Managing student-led hospitality
  • Establishing and steering the Service Learning Committee which reviews and governs the service learning projects
  • Establishing and steering the Student Diaconal Council, which responds to requests for financial assistance from the Student Aid Fund, disburses resources in the Student Aid Fund, and seeks continued support for the Student Aid Fund from the Templeton student body
  • Developing new student-led initiatives for student life within the Templeton Honors College, including the development of strategic proposals with appropriate financial projections

Elizabeth (Libby) Thomas - Student Council Chair

Libby ThomasLibby studies Early Childhood Education with a concentration in teaching English as a Second Language. She has lived in Fayetteville and Charlotte, North Carolina and most recently in multiple towns in the Philadelphia area. When she isn't studying or nannying, she likes to hike with friends, visit gardens, and read works by Steinbeck and C.S. Lewis.

Ellen Francis - Student Council Event Coordinator

Ellen FrancisEllen Francis is a sophomore from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She is pursuing a degree in Classics, with a double minor in History and Philosophy. In her free time, Ellen enjoys hand embroidery, swing dancing, reading (in English and Latin), hiking with friends, and drinking sweet tea. She hopes to teach Latin or attend law school after graduation.

Olivia Ruth - Student Council Secretary

Olivia RuthOlivia is a junior pursuing a Music Education degree with a focus in voice. She is from Frederick, Maryland. She loves to spend time with friends, play piano, sing, and act in musicals.



Cole Patti - Student Council Treasurer

Cole PattiCole is from Salem, New Jersey. He is a sophomore Communication Studies major. You may find him around campus playing tennis or admiring God's creations and creatures. He tries to always remember how essential contemplation is to a happy life!
