Application for MAT in Classical Education

STEP 1:

Complete Eastern University’s online graduate application. Make sure to specify “MA in Teaching, Concentration in Classical Education” as the Academic Program from the drop-down menu.

STEP 2:

Obtain two recommendations (one professional and one academic, if possible). Recommenders should be able to speak to your personal character; intellectual capacities; aptitude for interactive conversation; and potential for success as an educator. Recommendations can be in letter form and sent to mat.templeton@eastern.edu or can be submitted using this form.

STEP 3:

Write your Intellectual Autobiography and Statement of Purpose.

Intellectual Autobiography: Discuss the history of changes and developments that have been significant to your educational and intellectual experience, and state your academic and professional goals (500 words or less).

Statement of Purpose: Explain why you are pursuing the Master of Arts in Teaching in Classical Education at Eastern University (300 words or less).

STEP 4:

Request official transcripts from the college or university from which you received your bachelor's degree. Only one official transcript demonstrating the conferral of a Bachelor's degree is needed for your application.

Non-Degree Student Application: (If you plan to take fewer than four classes)

STEP 1:

Complete Eastern University’s online graduate application. Specify “Non-Degree Graduate” as the Academic Program from the drop-down menu.

STEP 2:

Request official transcripts from the college or university from which you received your bachelor's degree. Only one official transcript demonstrating the conferral of a Bachelor's degree is needed for your application.
